The computer has greatly improved our humans ability to explore and adapt to the world .And more important ,it lead us to a totally new civil society the infor
2、mation society . So many things that were impossible in the pass can now be completed by the computer effectively in seconds . Now ,our humans good health and comfortable life are almost the benefits from the computer.,The computer has such great effect .But Before it faced our humans ,who had made
3、a great contribution to get it to us? One of the most non-controversial answer is the mathematical genius ,---- John Von Neumann (约翰.冯.诺依曼),The eldest of three brothers, von Neumann was born Neumann Jnos Lajos in Budapest, Hungary, to a wealthy Jewish family. His father is a lawyer who worked in a b
4、ank. Jnos, nicknamed “Jancsi” (Johnny), was a child prodigy(奇才) who showed an aptitude for languages, memorization, and mathematics.,Although he attended school at the grade level appropriate to his age, his father hired private tutors (家庭教师) to give him advanced instruction in those areas in which
5、he had displayed an aptitude。 He received his Ph.D.(Philosophiae Doctor) in mathematics from Pzmny Pter University in Budapest at the age of 22.,Most notably, von Neumann was a pioneer of the application of operator theory to quantum mechanics(量子理论), a principal member of the Manhattan Project(曼哈顿计划
6、) and the Institute for Advanced Study (高级研究所)in Princeton (as one of the few originally appointed), and a key figure in the development of game theory (博弈理论) and the concepts of cellular automata (细胞自动机) and the universal constructor(普遍构造).,Along with Edward Teller (爱德华特勒)and Stanislaw Ulam(斯坦尼斯乌拉姆
7、), von Neumann worked out key steps in the nuclear physics(核物理) involved in thermonuclear reactions(热核反应) and the hydrogen bomb(氢弹).,In 1945, mathematician John von Neumann undertook a study of computation that demonstrated that a computer could have a simple, fixed structure, yet be able to execute
8、 any kind of computation.,Von Neumann contributed a new understanding of how computers should be organized and built; these ideas, often referred to as the stored-program technique, became fundamental for future generations of high-speed digital computers 。,von Neumann died on Feb 8,1957. With an ag
9、e of 54. Von Neumann wrote 150 published papers in his life; 60 in pure mathematics, 20 in physics, and 60 in applied mathematics. His last work, published in book form as The Computer and the Brain, gives an indication of the direction of his interests at the time of his death.,Von Neumann was a great scientist , because of not only his such many excellent theories and fantastic work ,but also that the spirit to contribute his life to the science.
