13、 to the Greens. 让我们为格林夫妇干杯。 3. I want to know whether/if it is polite to point at people with chopsticks in China. 我想知道在中国用筷子指向别人是否礼貌。 一般疑问句作宾语从句时用whether或if引导,意为“是否”。这时一般疑问句要用陈述句语序,且句末标点为句号。如: Is Jane at home now? I want to know.(合并为一句) —— I want to know if/whether Jane is at home now. 我想知道Jane
14、现在是否在家。 4. I don’t think that it is polite to point at people with chopsticks in China. 我认为在中国用筷子指向别人是不礼貌的。 “I don’t think/believe that+从句”这种句型意为“我认为/相信......不……”,在英语中否定的是宾语从句的内容,习惯上常把否定转移到主句上。如: I don’t think it’s going to rain this afternoon.我认为今天下午不会下雨。 5. Will people leave as soon as the
